Combat Steps

Step 1: Attacker and Defender allocate soul energy to attributes.

Step 2: Attacker and Defender check remaining soul energy after allocation. For every 3 soul not used to boost attributes, the character gains 1 additional action. The character with the higher soul rating goes first.

Step 3: Attacker makes a yellow (dexterity) roll, adds his dexterity attribute and his weapon or martial arts skill. Attacker determines his total. Defender makes a yellow (dexterity) roll if parrying with a weapon, or blocking, or a green (movement) roll if dodging out of the way. If yellow roll, he adds his dexterity attribute and his weapon skill. If green roll, he adds his movement attribute and his dodge skill. Defender determines his total.

Step 4: Attacker and Defender compare their totals. If attacker’s total exceeds defender’s total, the surplus is applied as base damage against the defender If defender’s total exceeds attacker’s roll, go to next round of combat.

Step 5: If attacker was successful in dealing base damage, add his orange (strength) attribute plus his weapon damage rating to that base. This total is applied against the defender’s violet (armor) attribute. Any points that get through are counted as actual wounds.

Step 6: Defender now attacks if he wishes. Attacker and defender trade blows until all actions are exhausted. New allocation of soul energy begins (step 1).
